tsukiihana replied to your post: would you recommend some nice books about design that you have used in college?
anything is helpfull!im brazilian and a interior design student. Im just curious about your education :3
Well, not sure how relevant books for illustration courses are to interior design students, but one of the books I do remember them telling us to get was the Graphic Artist’s Guild Handbook of Pricing and Ethical Guidelines, and that’s more on the business end of things…I think for any designer/graphic artist, that’s a pretty good resource. We looked at a lot of Society of Illustrators annual books, and I think the books I looked at on my own time were various artist books and these neat Japanese design books (they might’ve been annuals too, I don’t remember), but I totally don’t know any of the names for them. /sob
Maybe before I leave Minneapolis I’ll run to the library and find the names of the books I liked for you.
You know, I actually don’t think I’ve looked at that many books about design…I’ve looked at a lot of artist’s books, but I don’t remember looking through anything textbook-style or instructional about design or illustration… (with the exception of art history books, I guess). I have looked at some old pattern books that are a little more instructional but I have no idea what they’re called, there’s just a section in our campus library that is all pattern books. Ahhh this was totally not helpful, sorry!
